A year later the group determined to launch a new congregation to reach the people of Marquette County with the good news of Jesus Christ. Sunday worship services began at the Negaunee Township hall. Evangelist Rick Stacy was hired as the first full time staff member. Two years later property was purchased in the Oakridge subdivision at the crossroads of County Road 480 and County Road 553, and a small but functional building was built. Over 100 people were attending when they moved in, in January 1980. Steady growth led to two building expansions in the next five years. Nearby K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base helped provide a steady stream of newcomers.
Neither the slowing economy nor the close of K.I. Sawyer stopped the church from pursuing its mission. The staff changed and grew but the purpose remained the same: Bringing people in to God’s church, Building them up in His Son, and sending them out to serve in His harvest. Eventually three services were needed to accommodate everyone. After several attempts to expand once more at the 66 Oakridge location were frustrated by “red tape”, God opened the way to thirty acres just up the road toward Marquette. The church committed to go forward in faith, and a new facility was begun in May of 2001. Christmas Eve of that year saw about 600 people join together for our first service at the new location.
Our efforts continue to reach out to the 90% of Marquette County’s unchurched population with God's urgent message

One of the main reasons we exist as a church is for those who are not yet a part of us! Christ has commanded His church to go and share the good news that people can be forgiven. And all those who accept His forgiveness become a part of His church. If you are already a Christian, we invite you to join this local body of believers as we serve our Lord together. If you're not yet a Christian, we would love to introduce you to a personal, loving God; "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn this world, but to save the world through Him."
